The Volunteers
Honoring the Kauaʻi Volunteers
The Kauaʻi Volunteers were part of Kauaʻi island’s proud tradition of service and community defense. As we continue to learn more about the volunteers, we know that men from Kauaʻi served in local volunteer and guard units during a time when the island—and the world—faced uncertainty. These brave individuals trained, patrolled, and protected their communities, balancing courage with humor, camaraderie, and everyday life on the island.
Though this page is still a work in progress, it seeks to honor all the volunteers, including Infantry Companies A through M and Mounted Troops A, B, and C. It’s a living history project, and we hope to expand it over time. Families and community members are invited to share stories, photographs, and artifacts to help preserve these memories for future generations, keeping the spirit, courage, and dedication of the Kauaʻi Volunteers alive.
